Precious is a beautiful 7 (almost 8!) year old little girl, diagnosed with spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy and epilepsy. In addition she has a feeding tube, in nonverbal and completely dependent on her family for positioning and moving. She is the first recipient of a toy from Ben's Toy Closet.
What will they say about him when they're 10? Or 18? Or 25? Or even 40?
My triplets were very young when they lost their brother Benjamin. My hope is that as they grow, we can continue to talk about him and keep him present in our everyday lives. Who knows what a three year old will remember or process in their young brain? My goal as their mom is to involve them in Ben Smiles so it becomes a part of our daily life.
Butterflies
Yesterday I went to a Butterfly Release/ Remembrance Service at MarianJoy Rehabilitation Hospital. They hold this celebration annually to honor and remember those small patients they’ve lost over the years.
Garage Sale Update ... we survived!
There was an idea of a yard sale where we would accept community donations of items to sell with all money going into the Ben Smiles Memorial Fund. We took in so many donations that were initially stored in my garage, then expanded into my living room, then my dining room and eventually my front hallway and entry. Whew! I wasn’t sure that it would all make it into the sale but somehow it did!
